Seeds
for Transformed Living
Everything you ever wanted is one step outside your comfort
zone. -- Unknown
There is no permanent security on earth, there is only
opportunity. Many things in your life will change during your
journey to success.
Accept that change will take place. You become secure, not by
standing still, but by growing, moving, and being energized. Be
secure in the knowledge that you can deal with what happens to
you.
Have the courage to bet on your ideas, to take calculated risks,
and to act.
You are secure to the degree that you can accept change. Your
security comes from being able to bend your insecurities. You must
avoid breaking when things don't go your way.
Your ultimate security is your understanding of
reality --Daily Motivator
If you wait for the perfect moment when all is safe and assured,
it may never arrive. Mountains will not be climbed, races won, or
lasting happiness achieved --Maurice Chevalier
I wake each morning torn between my desire to save the world and
my desire to savor it. This makes it very difficult to plan my
day. --E. B. White
Simple Pleasures
Sunday Drives On Memorial
There is a country lane (of sorts) just beyond the bustle of
610--Memorial Drive. >From 610, I take the Woodway exit and
travel Memorial Drive to Eldridge Parkway. This stretch is mostly a
residential, two lane, tree-lined road that gives you a 20-25 minute
respite from the traffic.
So, pick a lovely fall afternoon, pop in a great CD or tape, open
your windows, and enjoy a relaxing ride.
Do you have a simple pleasure that you'd like to share with TWN
readers. If so, email
me.
Finding Joy
When was the last time you did something for the first time in
your life?
FINDING JOY: 101 Ways to Free Your Spirit and Dance with
Life by Charlotte Kasl, Ph.D.
This is a wonderful read. Actually, there are 103 one to two page
writings about finding joy. Finding Joy is not just a "feel
good" book, but it focuses on the realties of what it takes to
experience joy in everyday life. A few of the topics are "Allow
grief and other scary feelings," "Allow time for pleasure,"
"Research your assumptions," "If it's worth doing, it's worth doing
well," and "Feel the earth beneath your feet."

Success by Conscious Design
Success is not so much a
condition in life as it is an attitude toward life. It is
really a product of our creative mind. Success is not just
about money and material things. It is a way of thinking,
feeling, and living. It is a process - a process of creating
the life you want on all levels - financially, emotionally,
mentally, spiritually, socially. To be successful is to grow,
to fulfill your potential, to be all that you can be.
Success begins as the "inside job" of transforming your
consciousness. Being in the experience of success involves
recognizing the world you live in is an external form of
whatever you are imagining inwardly. You create your outer
world as you imagine it to be, and the images you carry are a
reflection of your belief system. In other words, what you
believe is what you achieve - nothing more, nothing less.
The secret to success is to use your belief system and the
imaginative process to bring the positive changes you desire
in your life. Once you understand the power of your mind, you
can understand why success must exist in your consciousness
before it can manifest in your life. In practical terms, this
means that before you can be successful, you must create and
nourish an image in your mind of being successful.
Identify your image of success. What does your life
look like when you are successful? How do you think
differently, feel differently, act differently. Write a brief
success statement.
The Creation Process: Your Personal Road Map for
Creating Success
Step 1: Say what you want. Write down specificially
what you want to accomplish. Step 2: Results. Write
down things you anticipate being different as a result of
achieving what you want. Step 3: Agreements. Write
down specific steps you will take to create what you want.
Make each step measurable, time-framed, and
realistic. Step 4: Imagine it. See yourself
achieving the success you desire. Feel the pleasure and
satisfaction of it. Step 5: Get support. Find 2-3
positive people to check in with at specific times (weekly,
monthly) in order to share your progress (wins/wows,
challenges, blocks) and to affirm, encourage, and celebrate
your commitment to success.

5 Ways to Boost Your Success Right Now
Do one thing you've been
putting off. Procrastination zaps esteem and energy
because you spend a lot of time thinking about what you
haven't done. So, instead of walking by those unpaid bills,
sit down and pay them, or change your burnt out porch light.
Not only will you stop focusing on the negative, you'll feel a
sense of accomplishment.
Get out of your comfort zone. Risk taking isn't just
about skydiving or bungee jumping. Applying for a better job,
going back to school, or initiating a friendship are also
risky. When you take a risk, you'll see how life broadens when
you move beyond what's safe.
Express gratitude at least once a day. Successful
people tend to be grateful for what they have and are quick to
express their appreciation. Even when you are disappointed or
discouraged, the act of regularly expressing gratitude will
remind you how many gifts you really have.
See mistakes as lessons. You have two choices when
you goof up: lambaste yourself or see the mistake as an
opportunity to change and grow. The first response is a
reaction; the second prompts action.
Ask for help. People who are successful have no
trouble seeking and accepting help. Asking for information,
guidance, or encouragement, when you need it, saves you time,
energy, and frustration and affirms that you are worthy of
receiving support. -- excerpted from Womans Day
