Seeds for Transformed Living

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming - WOW! What a Ride!
Author Unknown

Love is not a cool arrangement or a night in bed. Love is angels hovering, circling, calling us to seek the sky together. And when we do, we change our patterns. We become new - -Our goal is to love like queens (and kings), showing up not as girls (boys), but as women (men) with faith and charity and purity of heart. Love is very serious business. It takes a powerful heart to invoke it clearly and prepare for its coming.
Marianne Williamson, A Woman's Worth

Yea, let all those who have ears to hear listen. For I tell you this: at the critical juncture in all human relationships, there is only one question:

What would love do now?

No other question is relevant, no other question meaningful, no other question has importance to the soul.
Neale Donald Walsch, Conversations with God, Book 1

How we long to become that which we hardly believe that we are.

Simple Pleasures

alternative text

Enjoy the pleasures of bathing-the relaxing warmth, the purifying quality of water, and fragrant smells. In addition to the luxurious bath with aromatherapy, candlelight, and soothing music, try these simple and time-conscious bathing treats:

Shower in the Dark

Showering in the dark is a wonderful way to relieve sensory overload. The shower works best in total darkness, but if you are uncomfortable, add a candle or use a night light. Imagine the shower as a soothing, releasing waterfall cascading around you. Concentrate solely on the sensual pleasures of the water. Shut out everything else for about 10 minutes.

Foot Bath

Fill a basin with warm water. Add chamomile tea to the water for a soothing effect or a teaspoon of cayenne pepper for rejuvenation. Play some soothing or upbeat music. Slip your feet into the water. Sip a glass of wine or herbal tea. Appreciate your feet for supporting you.

Inner Peace Syndrome

Be on the lookout for Symptoms of Inner Peace! The hearts of a great many have already been exposed to Inner Peace, and it is possible that people everywhere could come down with it in epidemic proportions. This could pose a serious threat to what has been, up to now, a fairly stable condition of conflict in the world!

SOME SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF INNER PEACE

  • A tendency to think and act spontaneously than from fears based in past experiences
  • A loss of interest in judging other people and in interpreting their actions
  • A loss of interest in conflict
  • A loss of ability to worry (very serious symptom)
  • Frequent, overwhelming episodes of appreciation and enjoyment
  • Feelings of connectedness with others and with nature
  • Frequent attacks of smiling (also very serious)
  • An increasing tendency to ALLOW things to happen rather than to MAKE things happen
  • And increased susceptibility to the LOVE extended by others and the uncontrollable urge to extend it.
  • This Syndrome can affect you regardless of age, race or national origin, gender, or social status. You are, however, especially vulnerable to Inner Peace Syndrome if you have been doing healing and/or self development work.

    Love is a Verb
Love isn't something that we fall into or that we find. Love isn't that thing that we long for, dream of, or promise. As Clint Black says in a song: "love is something that we do." Love is a verb. And, as human beings on the planet, we are at our best when we show love, when loving is simply something that we do.

Love is listening when someone needs to talk; love is holding someone when they need to be held. Love takes care, but it does not try to take over and fix things.

Love is calling in the middle of the day for no other reason than to let someone know you're thinking about him or her. Love is unexpected little notes in a lunch box or on the bathroom mirror. The act of love is simply a heartfelt smile when you're glad to see someone.

Love is doing little things you know the other person will appreciate - - filling the car with gas, washing the dishes, having the Starbucks on her desk when she arrives at the office, sending that "just thinking about you" card, and, love doesn't keep score because loving actions attract loving actions.

Love is laughing together and crying together, and giving each other the space to experience all that life has to offer. Love is feeling joy from the accomplishments and successes of someone else. Love is the wind that helps lift a person as high as he or she can go; love is the wind that lifts ourselves into being the kind of person we most want to be.

Yes, love is something that we do, and there are so many opportunities everyday for each of us to show that we love. So, remember to practice acts of loving kindness today.

Happy Valentines Day, everyone! May you all express lots of love and receive lots of love this year.

    February is Black History Month

In 1915, Carter G. Woodson, a historian keenly interested in education, founded the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History. It was through this organization that he began pressing for a "Negro History Week" as a mechanism for exploring the contributions of Black Americans. This dream became reality in 1926. Woodson chose the second week of February because two persons he felt had dramatically affected the lives of Black Americans were born during that month: Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglas. It would be much later, in 1976, when the now-renamed Association for the Study of Afro-American Life and History would succeed in promoting this week into Black History Month.
~ From "This Person and Event In Black History 2", February 3, 1993
